Liam and Jacen are roommates–and elite prostitutes working for a secret organization, The Company. They spend their lives making fantasies come true for spoiled, dangerous clients. In the midst of daily risk of emotional and physical damage, their friendship has been an island of sanity and safety. When The Company orders them to do a job together requiring them to cross the no-sex boundary that has kept them friends, Liam and Jacen must examine how they really feel about each other, and how far they are truly willing to go. Is this the life they want? Used to offering up their bodies without protest to the mercurial whims of others while fiercely guarding their hearts, the true meaning of love and consent is a challenge neither has ever faced before. My Review –
Jacen and Liam are two high priced hookers who work for The Company, some upscale, badass escort agency in LA. The guys live together and are best mates and look out for each other because they know when the other one’s had a bad night with a client. They have regular johns and they have one off johns, some of them average people but a lot of them have quirks, some have kinks and some are married. I suppose Jacen is bi because he sleeps with women and admits to having thought he was straight then gay for pay but he’s in love with Liam and Liam is a guy.
Liam is all these different characters like Lee and Leah and William and Avery. When he’s Leah he wears dresses and shaves everywhere. He’s 100% committed to the characters he’s paid to be and he’s plenty busy because of it, and because he’s a pretty dude who can rock out different looks. The 411 on Liam is he can’t get out of characters much even in real life because he’s been in prostitution for a long time, that kinda adds extra baggage to any actual relationship abilities.
Jacen isn’t quite as complicated as Liam is but he still has his own issues. Jacen ends up copping physical abuse from one client who’s a possessive creeper and notices marks on his body from another client, because hookers will always be with you only~ ^scrunching my eyes up at you Patrick^
I read this book because Arctic Absolution was da bomb with a good story and hot as fuck. Whatever the Cost is also hot as the hottest chilli pepper and the story is for sure interesting but I gotta say it’s written differently than I’m used to. It hops into a few people’s heads, at least that’s how it seemed to me, one minute I’d be with Liam then Jacen and I’m pretty sure I jumped into Val’s and Yasha’s as well. I got used to it and I’d realise what was happening. Sometimes it seemed like someone was in the corner narrating the story to me.
Like most terrible days, this one comes without warning. It begins suddenly, ripping those it ensnares away from their routines and lives, taking everything until it’s had its fill and is spent, its victims left in ruins, trying somehow to pick up the pieces.
There was a lot of drama too. Man these guys have bad and sad life stories but I guess you can’t be in the biz for long without it doing your head in and I reckon Lynn Kelling is showing that, that there’s some damage in these guys, even before the biz, and they understand each other’s pain.
Lots of stuff happens in Liam’s and Jacen’s lives. Liam can’t take that Jacen is getting fucked over by his client Patrick, he even goes to watch him sneakily in the background on one job because he’s heaps worried. He hates that they’re kinda made to perform together for Claudia, another of Jacen’s regulars. Liam does NOT want to be in on that and he gets fully freaked out about it. He wants them to pack up and leave LA but all the guys sign 10 year contracts with The Company. People don’t up and leave until the gig is done because The Company wants their pound of flesh and the workers are scared about being offed. Liam isn’t waiting for any contract to be up anymore, he wants them to just go go go! Jacen has been in love with Liam for awhile, and his best mate Yasha, who he’s also fucked, doesn’t think Liam is good enough because he doesn’t think Liam loves Jacen back and he shouldn’t go. Boy it’s complicated trying to type this up so it makes sense. There’s lots of good reviews on Goodreads. I think I’ll just add quotes and scenery to go with them. 😉
Flipping his hair back from his face, Jacen turns, looking back over his shoulder just in time to see Liam flipping up the front of the kilt. He squeezes up his shaft twice, then fits it to Jacen’s hole. With a hard thrust, he’s nestled deep and Jacen croaks a wrenching moan, pushing back into Liam’s pelvis, inviting more. “Come on, fuck me. Hard,” Jacen rasps.
And Jacen wants it—badly—so he flips over as gracefully as he can, keeping his knees planted widely to make plenty of room for Liam to get nice and close. He keeps his ass up high as instructed.
Then Jacen reaches down and touches himself, feeling the tenderness of his rim. When he pushes a finger inside, he’s amazed at how wet he is. He can feel Liam’s sticky fluids there, dripping down from deep inside, leaking out and running down the inside of his leg and up through his cheeks.
Haha! Hotness or what??
In the wrap up –
Even though this book was a different writing style for me, I haven’t read this kinda narrator in the corner style before, I liked it a lot~ because sexy. 😉 Besides who doesn’t like some mega drama to spice up the pre and post fucking? I’m not adverse to a bit of shit can happen and you punch through it because life’s a tough mudder. I suppose these guys are extremes but that’s ok, fantasy is a cool thing where you get to see what happens to these other peeps and then close the cover or the ereader and keep on moving. Lynn Kelling’s awesome at playing with your head and also writes THE hottest sex. Liam and Jacen are gold medal sex-letes, boy they can fuck up a storm and over and over again too, going hard to flaccid to hard again while still inside~ I salute you boys! 🙂 This book is a sexy, dirty talking big drama filled kinky fantasy with kilts and personas and badass friends with shotguns and I liked it tons.
